Surgery Using The CO2 Laser
Concerned about the discomfort
of surgery?
We know how you feel. We have pets too. You've scheduled
a surgery for your pet, and while you know it must be
done, you're having second thoughts because of the associated
pain and discomfort your pet may experience afterwards.
We hear those comments frequently from concerned pet
owners and make every effort to make your pet's surgery
as pain free as possible.
Did you know...that most surgical procedures can now be performed with a laser? The same tool that is used in human medicine has been adapted for use on animals. We are pleased to offer you laser surgery in our efforts to improve patient care to pets undergoing surgery. With the state-of-the-art technology, we can make it even better for several reasons:
- Less Pain! Laser
energy seals nerve endings as it moves through tissue,
so there is little pain when they wake up.
- Less Bleeding! Lasers
seal blood vessels as they cut, thus reducing blood
loss and bandaging following surgery.
- Less Swelling! Lasers
seal lymph vessels as they cut through skin, thus
reducing postoperative swelling.
- A "No Touch" Delivery
System! Only a beam of intense light contacts
the tissue eliminating any crushing, tearing, or bruising
of tissue.
- Quick Return to Normal Activity!
Recovery is rapid and there is less postoperative
discomfort in nearly all surgical procedures.
- Precision! The laser
minimizes adverse effects to normal surrounding tissue
and maintains a clear surgical field therby allowing
the surgeon to be extraordinarily precise.
Types of procedures laser surgery
can perform.
A wide variety of surgical procedures
can be performed with the laser including elective procedures
(i.e. tumor/wart removal, castrations, ovariohysterectomies,
and cat declaws) and specialized procedures involving
the eyes, ears, skin, mouth, and internal organs. To
find out whether your pet's surgery can be performed
with laser, please inquire.
Cost of laser surgery.
Yes, it does cost a little more. The
improvement, however, in recovery time and fewer side
effects, makes it worth the additional expense. The
laser option fees vary between $50 and $150, depending
on the surgical procedure. If interested, a quote will
be provided to you prior to surgery.
